Al Gore: Web 2.0 Needs a Purpose – ReadWriteWeb

In Al Gore’s speech at the Web 2.0 Summit, he claimed change in areas such as, politics, the ongoing fight to save our planet and the need to democratize mass media, cannot take place until we reevaluate and rethink World 2.0 where social change takes place. He compared and contrasted Web 2.0 technologies to the electric dynamo, where their the power and the potential of remained encumbered by backward thinking. Gore calls for a rethinking of Web 2.0 as a means to contribute to a higher level of consciousness about our relationship with this planet, a World 2.0 ontology and axiology.
